Linn-Mar is a licensed provider of SwimAmerica swimming lessons. All instruction is done using SwimAmerica teaching philosophy and SwimAmerica lesson curriculum.
There are two critically important features in SwimAmerica swimming lessons. First, SwimAmeica lessons are technique oriented. Students are taught to swim with expert technique from the very first day in the water. The second feature of SwimAmerica lessons is that each lesson is goal-directed. All learning is individually based allowing each student to learn at their own pace.
Instruction during lessons is done under the direct on-deck supervision of a certified SwimAmerica Lessons Supervisor. The individual instructors are also certified SwimAmerica instructors who have completed SwimAmeica classroom studies, passed a SwimAmeica written instructor test and completed time working as a SwimAmerica student teacher. Additionally, since each SwimAmeica instructor at the Linn-Mar Aquatic Center is an employee of the Linn-Mar Community School District, each has been screened with background checks completed.
With the lesson program at Linn-Mar's Aquatic Center, there are three stages of lessons: Preschool, Beginner, and Advanced.

Linn-Mar's Adaptive Swimming Lessons
These lessons are specifically designed to teach water safety skills and improved swimming skills to students with special needs.
Instructors are trained to integrate strategies so that students learn to relax in the water and improve their swimming abilities. Instructors work with the parents and/or caregiver when teaching these lessons.
The staff at Linn-Mar assigned to teach the swim classes for students with special needs are trained and certified Swim Angelfish Adaptive Swim Program instructors, as well as SwimAmerica certified instructors. These instructors are very experienced swim teachers and have all taught many lessons with the district.
With Swim Angelfish, the district is able to provide children of all abilities and special needs the lifelong skill of being comfortable and safe in the water. With Swim Angelfish, the district is able to offer lessons that are targeted, but not necessarily limited to students with: attention difficulties, anxiety, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), sensory challenge, physical disabilities and coordination difficulties. These programs include aquatic therapy and Swim Whispers swim lessons.
